The King 2Hearts: Last(ing?) Impressions

The 20-episode series starring Lee Seung-Gi and Ha Ji-won has finally come to an end this week. And I cried buckets. But not because of the main leads.  WARNING: Do not continue with this post unless you've completed the series or you really, REALLY, do not mind major spoilers. If you are not in that category, let me redirect you to the  introductory post instead. Considered you've been warned. Cool? What I'm about to do now is generally recapping some of my most favorite or memorable scenes. There will be A LOT of screen caps. This drama is pretty pretty pretty, to say the least. I wish I could put a lot more because there are just so many scenes that I like, especially during the training, but alas, I cannot for that would take me days. Also worth to mention are the soundtracks, which are plain awesome. They tug at my heartstrings, emphasize the moments and make everything all the more beautiful and poignant.

Queen In Hyun's Man: hoping that the good things don't end just yet

Queen In Hyun's Man is a drama that is currently airing on cable channel tvN, starring Ji Hyun Woo ( Birth of the Rich ) as the titular character and Yoo Inna ( Best Love, Secret Garden ), in her first leading role, as the love interest. Ji Hyun Woo's character Kim Bung-do is a time-traveller from Joseon era, approximately 300 years before present day. He is a top scholar and an officer for the Office of Special Advisors. Under the King's order,  he strives to protect the dethroned Queen In Hyun from a conspiracy and assassination plotted by the Right Deputy Prime Minister, Min Am. While carrying out his duty he faces a fatal situation, but is miraculously saved from death after being transported from Joseon time to present day Korea. He then meets Yoo Inna's Choi Hee-jin, a present time newbie actress, who just unexpectedly lands on a leading role as Queen In Hyun in a drama "New Jang Hee-bin". She is the person who helps Kim Bung-do whenever he travels...

The King 2Hearts: First Impressions

After the disappointment that was The Moon that Embraces the Sun (which I stopped watching after dunno what episode, with the intention of resuming in the near future, hopefully), I pretty much lost interest in current dramas and was more in the mood for old series. But I think I've found a new drama crack for 2012 which is The King 2Hearts (what's with the title?) starring Lee Seung Gi ( My Girlfriend is a Gumiho ) and Ha Ji Won ( Secret Garden ). The drama has a rather imaginary setup, in which the South Korea's monarchy lives on until this very day, and a setting where the North and South's collaboration is not impossible, if ain't easy.

Yellow Handkerchief (2003)

Summary from  wiki : After being in a relationship with Yoon Ja-young (Lee Tae Ran) for nearly ten years, Lee Sang-min (Kim Ho Jin) dumps her for a richer woman. He plans to marry the president of his company, Jo Min-joo (Choo Sang Mi). Things go astray, though, when Lee finds out that Ja-young is pregnant. He tries to convince her to get an abortion but fails. Nevertheless, he marries Jo Min-joo in a loveless relationship. On the other hand, Yoon raises the child with her mother, grandmother, sister and brother, waiting for him to come back. Jo Sun-joo (Han Ga In) is Jo's stepsister, a warmhearted girl who seems very cold. She learns the meaning of love through Yoon Ja-young's brother (Yeon Jung Hoon), but things don't go well for them either, especially when there is a pestering neighbor always on the watch. Forgiving and waiting, Yoon Ja-young rises from her hard times to become a successful businesswoman. In the search for success, love is obstructed by greed unt...

Knowing (2009)

Didn't really plan on watching TV tonight, figured there would be nothing interesting. But as I flipped through the channel, caught the beginning of a movie showing a scene with schoolchildren drawing pictures to be put into a time capsule of what they think the world would look like in the future. I wondered if it's anything worth sticking around for another two hours, so I quickly searched for the TV guide on the internet, learned the title, and found its synopsis on the web. It's a sci-fi kind of movie. Why not? For synopsis and reviews, you can visit  Rotten Tomatoes , my favorite site for some quick info on movies. It's basically about Nicholas Cage trying to save the world by decoding some numbers related to all major world disasters for the past 50 years.  I enjoyed the movie, even though watching it alone was kind of freaky. Yeah, I am a scaredy cat. But at least it's not a ghost story. I could never watch ghost movies alone, especially if they ge...

Birth of the Rich

This is one of those series that I put watching on hold after the first few episodes. I suppose it didn't capture  my interest so much back then. If I remember correctly, I started it for Lee Si Young ( Boys before Flowers ), but the first few scenes of hers made me think "terrible acting", I wonder why because it turns out that she's a gem throughout. Birth of the Rich follows the quest of Choi Suk Bong, played by Ji Hyun Woo ( Invincible Lee Pyung Kang ) to find his biological father whom he believes is a rich man, despite never having met him once in his life. Since a small kid, he always tells people that his father is a chaebol, based on the story told by his mother about their fateful encounter and he's been holding to a special necklace given by his father to the mother before they got separated. In order to find the father, he always sneaks into the events attended by the riches and takes every chance he gets to show them the necklace, thinking that o...
