Hotaru no Hikari Season 2

This 11-episode Japanese romantic comedy totally throws the other drama series in this genre out the window for me (for now, that is). Even the ever favorite Nodame Cantabile has to come in second place! This drama brings back the original main cast from Season 1 Ayase Haruka (Tatta Hitotsu no Koi) as Amemiya Hotaru a.ka. "Himono onna" and Fujiki Naohito (Proposal Daisakusen) as Takano Seiichi a.ka. Buchou~.

The series picks up where it left three years ago (Season 1 was in 2007). Amemiya just comes back from her 3-year work attachment in Hong Kong and resumes life as usual as if nothing i.e the separation ever happened. She naturally goes back to work where Buchou is, goes back to the house where Buchou and she lived prior to Hong Kong assignment, lazying around at the porch and drinking beer. Life is back to normal for her.

But of course, people and things change over the course of three years, as admitted by Buchou, which leads Amemiya to ponder on what has she accomplished for the past three years when other people around her seem to evolve. But being the "Himono onna", it seems a little troublesome a thought.^^

Season 1 is all about Amemiya's awakening to love, whereby Season 2 focuses primarily on the progress of relationship between Amemiya and Buchou towards marriage. It's heartwarming to watch, and most importantly, deym HILARIOUS!

Highly recommended.

Queen Seon Deok - The Characters

Queen Seon Deok is a series that focuses on the 'villains' as much as it focuses on its 'heroes', because a strong and remarkable hero is called such because he/she faced an equally strong and remarkable nemesis. Because there is a strong opponent like Mishil, that Deokman was able to gain experience and wisdom. There are also other characters that play significant roles to both Deokman and Mishil in their quest to gain the throne. For this post, I list some of the main characters and their brief descriptions. Please note that my descriptions of the characters are merely based on the TV series, and not based on actual historical data . Warning: MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS . 1) PRINCESS DEOKMAN Princess Deokman (Queen Seon Deok, posthumous) was played beautifully by Lee Yo Won ( Fashion 70's ). Her younger version was played with great vigor by Nam Ji Hyun ( East of Eden, Will It Snow for Christmas? ). She was born a twin, which according to a prophecy will mark the ...
